My name is Suzanne Weiss and I have been teaching in Hingham since 2003. I grew up in Wayland, Massachusetts where I started taking French in the seventh grade. I was lucky enough to spend three weeks with a French family my sophomore year of high school and fell in love with everything French. As a sophomore in college I traveled back to France for a semester abroad. I graduated from Union College in 2000 with a degree in art history and French. After working in the Wellesley school system as a teaching assistant, I made the decision to pursue a career in education.
In order to improve my French language skills I spent the summer of 2001 at Middlebury College in Vermont where I took part in their excellent French immersion program. I then moved to Rennes, France in September of 2001 and took classes at L’université de Rennes. I met some amazing friends and learned an incredible amount about France and the French language. Upon my return in 2002 I studied at Boston University and received my Masters in Teaching. I also completed a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational and Leadership Management through Fitchburg State in 2009.
I am married to Mr. Weiss who teaches sixth grade science here at HMS. We have two boys, William and Henry. They keep us very busy! In my free time I love to run with our dog Maple, bake, and read. I miss France very much and hope to bring my boys when they're a little older.
