Dear Parent or Guardian,
I am delighted to have your child in class this year. I love teaching French and look forward to a productive and fun school year. My classroom policies and guidelines listed below will give you a good understanding of what your child can do to be successful in French this year.
Responsibilities of Student
Materials
You should be ready every day in class and bring the following materials:
Homework
There will be several small projects you will work on this year. I always provide enough time to complete them in class, so any unfinished work will be assigned as homework. There will be many small quizzes this year as well, but students should only need to brush up on quiz material at home for 10-15 minutes the night before an assessment. We do the majority of the study work in school together.
Assessments
Students are assessed through a variety of methods including quizzes, projects, oral participation, and classwork. All graded materials will be kept in individual portfolios in the classroom.
Projects – 25%
Quizzes – 25%
Classwork – 25%
Class Participation – 25%
Absence
When you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to find out what work you missed. Anything you do not complete will count as a zero.
Extra Help
I will be available for extra help after school in room 226. Please let me know if you are coming so I can make arrangements to stay with you.
Best wishes for a wonderful school year!
Sincerely,
Suzanne Weiss
